Fourth Nation (aka producer/remixer Tim Topham) stormed onto the Australian house music scene in early 2008 with the release of a white label remix of the classic Australian 80s track Electric Blue by Icehouse.
With news quickly spreading around Melbourne, Fourth Nation developed a presence amongst some of Melbourne’s top club DJs and producers, even catching the ear of Ian “Molly” Meldrum who was so impressed by Electric Blue that he had to meet the artist in person! More remixes have followed, creating online interest from around the globe.
With clubbers suddenly realising that they’re dancing to new club edits of well-known 80s tracks by the likes of Icehouse, Limahl, Steve Winwood & GANGgajang, Fourth Nation has gained a solid remix reputation and enjoyed radio and club play around Australia and overseas.
Building on his growing reputation, Fourth Nation has been busily releasing original productions including the laid-back and melodic It’s Only Now feat. Mady, All Our Dreams 2009, A New Day featuring the amazing bass talents of Pisani and the trance-infused Subliminal. Check on itunes and beatport for downloads.
Other remixes include such classics as Steve Winwood’s Higher Love, Limahl’s signature tune from the Never Ending Story and the latin-influenced Magic Carpet Ride by the Mighty Dub Kat – all available to stream through the mp3 player at the top of the screen.
Although creating ground-shaking, floor-filling dance tracks, mash-ups and remixes for a the clubbing crowd is a favourite pastime, Fourth Nation has also been working towards releases as varied as jazz, pop and including production, consultation and musical direction work in musical theatre.
Having recently finished remixing for Central Station Records and while working around his other commitments in teaching, education and running his own company, Fourth Nation is now onto new tracks which are sure to appeal to vocal and progressive house lovers and likely to include some new well-known 80s remixes – stay tuned for details!
